A First Aid Practical Workshop for hounds is being held on Saturday 13th July 2024 in Witherslack Village Hall, Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria LA11 6RW. This course forms part of the ‘Witherslack Weekend’ when the monthly walk is on the following day.

The First Aid Session starts at 9:00 hours with a tea/coffee break at 10:15 hours, and lasts all morning.

The workshop is led by Liz Dodd and members of her team from Highgate Veterinary Clinic, Kendal. This practical workshop covers a wide range of canine first aid information for hounds, and those attending previous year find it very informative and useful.

In addition to the workshop there will be many items on sale for your perusal from the RGSL goods store. The following day will be the RGSL monthly walk from Witherslack, and will finish at the hall where the stall will be there along with refreshments.

To attend, please book your space by phoning Jenny on 015395 52394, send her a message or email her at email@rgsl.net, and the name of your hound you wish to practice on if you are bringing one.

We are all looking forward to another successful workshop, and we hope you can join us. Thank you.

Liz Dodd and Claire Harris came from Highgate Veterinary Clinic kindly offered their services free of charge to help us with a practical workshop on FIRST AID FOR HOUNDS at Witherslack Village Hall LA11 6RW. (To find the hall go through the village, down the dip and take the left hand fork, and its just up the hill on the right)

2 sessions (9:00 to 12:00 hours and 13.30 to 16:30 hours)
Bring your hound if it's calm and willing to be a patient, but let us know so we can keep to the required numbers.
10:30 hours there will be tea and coffee served. Between 12:00 and 13:30 hours there will be a finger buffet lunch and refreshments for the participants after the morning session and for those attending the afternoon session so all can meet, have a chat and buy calendars, raffle tickets, Christmas and other greeting cards, greyhound coats etc. At 15:00 hours there will be tea and coffee served again.

For just £20 you will have a ‘hands on’ experience to learn how to deal with minor injuries and illnesses, things to look out for if your hound isn’t well, how to apply dressings, take temperatures and ask questions about areas that interest you. It should be a super day with a small starter first aid kit to take home. Can you please let us know by email, WhatsApp or phoning 015395 52394 if you wish to attend and we can let you know how to pay. Can you also let us know whether you want the morning or afternoon session and if you are bringing your hound. The hounds attending should be calm and not mind having dressings and bandages applied to them. The vets and nurses attending from Highgate Veterinary Clinic are offering their services free of charge and all proceeds are going towards the care of and homing of the greyhounds here at RGSL.
