Blood Donor Sessions

Greyhounds make superb blood donors because they can donate to any breed of dog and each pint can save the lives of up to 4 dogs. Any dog weighing 25 kg or more who are under the age of 9 years, and are fit and well can donate blood.

The big benefit is your dog is given a full health check including a blood test to ensure they are fit and well. This is done free of charge.

They simply lay on a comfortable bed on a table and give 450 ml., then after they receive rest, refreshments and a ‘goody’ bag. The whole process involving the collection of blood is very easy and the team are very good at putting both the owner and the donor at ease. The donor simply lies down, relaxes and enjoys all the love and attention they are given while the 450ml is being collected.
