Cartmel
Walks are for sighthounds only, and generally held once a month starting at 11:00 hours. Please be aware that some attending can be nervous and not used to meeting other breeds of dogs. If you have a nervous dog please ensure it’s muzzled, and please keep all dogs on the lead at all times. There are many people behind the scenes making these walks a success - it’s a massive team effort, so come and join us - everyone welcome.
Our next monthly walk will take place on Sunday 15th March 2026 at Cartmel
This is a walk around the fields and woods near the racecourse in Cartmel. Walk length approximately 1.5 mile for the group walk but longer and shorter routes available on the day.
DO NOT PARK IN THE MAIN PUBLIC CAR PARK!
The meeting place is the car park at the racecourse grandstand where they are kindly letting us park FREE of charge.
They are opening the gates at 10 am and closing them at 2.30 pm so all cars need to be out by then. The postcode is LA11 6QF.

When you drive through Cartmel square at the top end is the Village Shop. Take the road to the RIGHT of the shop and it will take you to the racecourse itself where the walk is setting off from.
Following the walk we will serve refreshments (tea/coffee/cake) and the RGSL mobile shop will be present with a variety of goods for sale including Time20, Birthday / Greeting cards, outdoor coats, fleeces and rain macs in sizes 18" to 32", snoods, martingale collars, leads, harnesses, plus much more. If you want something specific please let Jenny (01726 554 323) know beforehand to ensure it’s included in the van.
Normal rules apply for the group walks - this is a walk for sighthounds only and please be aware that some hounds attending can be nervous and not used to meeting other breeds of dogs. If you have a nervous hound please ensure it’s muzzled and please keep all hounds on the lead at all times. Dog waste to be bagged and responsibly disposed of.
