Feeding
If you feed the kibble (Time20) dry they will only eat until they loose their saliva. You will think they are full when they’re not, they’re waiting till their saliva returns to eat more. If you do this your dog will become a fussy eater, you won’t know how much they’ve eaten, and it’s left for the flies.
You can mix mince, chicken, fish, tinned dog meat, carton or sachet dog meat. Any tinned fish in oil, water or tomato sauce, but not in brine. They can have any kind of cooked vegetables chopped small into their food, but NO mushrooms and NO raw onion. Any kind of potatoes, rice, pasta, bread etc are all good.
The thing to remember is the Time20 has everything needed, the other items are used to give the Time20 a variety, so don’t put them on top the Time20, but mix it in then add 2/3rd mug warm water from the kettle, and serve wet not soaked. Only use tepid water not hot.
Q. Has become a fussy eater
Once you’ve ruled out any medical problems, then he's worked out he can train you to serve his food as and when he wants it.
To get him back on track give him his breakfast as normal, and at the time you want. If he doesn't eat it or he leaves some, lift it, put a plate over it and put in the fridge till his evening meal time. Do NOT leave it down. Give him no treats between meals. At his evening meal time mix a little fresh to it with some more warm water from the kettle and serve it him again. He should eat it, and after he has, praise him. Don't worry if he doesn't eat any, or not much because he's testing you. Throw out what remains and give him no evening supper. In the morning repeat the process. If he has any treats it becomes part of his meal, so use the ones you can break up and put on his food.
Remember, you are the pack leader, not him. It's you who says when and what he eats. It may take a couple of days or so before that sinks in, but if you continue feeding him as I've said above he'll get back on track. Any of our dogs who turn their noses up at their breakfast have it removed and given again at tea time. They won't starve.
